Water Scavenger Beetle

The Water Scavenger Beetle sometimes grows over 3 inchs long. The average size is 1.3 inches. The female's eggs are laid in a silken wrapping and attached to a floating leaf. The water scavenger beetle is found in vernal pools and feeds on tadpoles, water insects and small fish. Adults are active in all seasons.
