Egg Mass Counts
At least two wood frog egg mass counts (EMC) were conducted at each pond during the egg deposition periods in March. A possible alternative technique to monitor amphibian populations might be to count egg masses to determine breeding success for each species at each pond. Environmental data will be collected daily at each site and include: max/min temperature; water temperature; humidity; precipitation; and water depth. The egg deposition period for Wood Frogs was very short this year, taking place during just a few days over the course of two and a half weeks.
