Vernal pools are temporary wetlands. They become dry on a regular basis (yearly or every few years) and they have a low level of dissolved oxygen. Because of these conditions, vernal pools do not have permanent populations of fish. The "fishing" in a vernal pool may be good, but the "catching" will be pretty poor.
