In the winter, mole salamanders of the northern regions must endure harsh weather conditions. Through evolutionary processes and natural selection, these salamanders have "evolved adaptions" to survive the brisk winter. An example of an "evolved adapation" is remaining dormant by hibernating beneath forest floor.
