WHAT WE DO
The Vernal Pool Association places major emphasis on providing information to the public about the natural history and protection of vernal pools. Our most visible products are The Vernal Pool website, our educational outreach publications, and our workshops/talks throughout the New England region.
We also work directly with teachers and researchers to develop new education materials and to help teachers study vernal pools with their classes. Much of this interaction is done through email.
We encourage environmental inventories and certification projects on significant properties in MA. We are in the second year of a project in cooperation with the National Park Service to certify all of the vernal pool in the Cape Cod National Seashore. Surveys in other areas of MA will begin this spring (2007.)
We are now in the fifth year of our Fairy Shrimp Survey.Several workshops for educators and environmental professionals are scheduled for late spring.
