Ten tips for visiting a vernal pool 3
Be Careful

<
Be careful of deep water, sudden drop-offs, holes, submerged objects, and the slippery, muddy terrain at the bottom of the pools and the surrounding areas. When walking to and from vernal pools, watch where you are going so that you don’t suddenly hit your head on low hanging tree branches, walk into sharp, eye-level branches or unwittingly squish an animal. Also, when wading in a vernal pool, use a long stick to feel the bottom of the pool so you don’t step in holes. Always watch where you step.
