Be Gentle

Don’t pick up frogs or salamanders while wearing hand lotion or bug repellant. Amphibians absorb things through their skin. Picking up a frog or salamander while wearing lotion on your hands could prove harmful to the animal. Also, its a good idea to wet your hands before picking up an amphibian. Doing this allows you to handle the animal without drying out its skin.
