Vernal Pool Views

"Vernal pools", as we use the term, are temporary water bodies which do not have fish. Some dry yearly and some persist for longer periods. These pools are all fishless and support the lives of organisms, amphibians and invertebrates,  which depend upon temporary wetlands. Pools that support vernal pool organisms are varied in appearance because of topography and surrounding vegetation. All are a basin depression which collects and holds water for several months or more each year. These pools are in Massachusetts but similar to pools across the glaciated northeast.
